I've owned this vac for about 8 months now, and have to say I would not make this purchase again if I had to do it over. I'm surprised so many people love this engineering failure.
I purchased this VAC because I have a large garage and wanted the hose to reach all corners. I think I would now give that up for a larger diameter, shorter hose. There's just not a very powerful suction when using the floor attachment.
My biggest gripe? Whomever designed this vac should be fired. The filter is located in the top portion of the vac (above the hose inlet, of course), and not part of the bottom removable canister. It is impossible to remove the filter without getting full of dust and dirt, because you have to reach up inside the canister to pull the filter out, while simultaneously trying to hold the bottom canister in place to catch any debris that invariably falls onto your arm while removing the filter.
My wife uses the vac in the house a lot to clean up cat hair and litter. However, due to the poor design, the filter gets clogged with cat hair long before the bottom of the canister fills up. I just emptied it because she complained of poor suction (couldn't even suck up cat litter with the floor attachment), and there was only about 1/2 inch of debris in the bottom of the canister. The filter, however, was caked with fuzz and fur. My friends, this is not how a vac is supposed to work.
I give this vac two stars because it is probably good at picking up certain types of debris (like leaves or other larger particles), and it is decent for vacuuming out a car. However, it could have been a much better vac and much more versatile if designed properly.
